To clarify, you first have to realize that with our towers you can grow from 32 to 80 plants per tower on an area of ​​just under one square meter and you can also cultivate an incredibly large variety.

The pump and its energy consumption

Our Future Garden Towers are equipped with a submersible pump that is attached to the bottom of the reservoir. This pump pumps the 100% natural ionic mineral nutrient solution up into the tower. The pump operates with an output of 25 watts, for example, and is operated alternately for 3 minutes on and 12 minutes off, or as required for 5 minutes on and 45 minutes off, which corresponds to an operating time of approximately either 2.5 hours per day or 4.8 hours per day.

Calculating the electricity costs of the pump:

  2. Operating time per day: 2.5 hours
  3. Energy consumption per day: 23 W × 2 , 4 H = 55 , 2 Wh

The monthly electricity costs of the pump are therefore about €0.50

LED grow lights and their energy consumption

For indoor cultivation, it is crucial to use our LED grow lights to ensure optimal plant growth. These LED lights have a power of 130 watts, for example, and should be switched on for about 12 hours a day.

Calculating the electricity costs for LED grow lights:

  1. Power of LED lamps: 130 watts
  2. Operating time per day: 12 hours
  3. Energy consumption per day: 125 W × 14 H = 1,750 Wh = 1 , 75 kWh
  4. Energy consumption per month: 1 , 75 kWh × 30 Days = 52 , 5 kWh
  5. Electricity costs per month: 46.85

The monthly electricity costs for the LED grow lamps are therefore about €12.64

Total cost of electricity consumption

In summary, the monthly electricity costs for operating a Future Garden Tower, depending on the size and the settings for light duration and pump operation, with LED growth lamps and the pump, are around €13.14.

These calculations are based on the average electricity price in Germany in May 2024 of around 27 cents/kWh.
